Local Dermatologist Present Rotary Program

Robert Chen, M.D. of Acacia Dermatology was the guest speaker at the May 29, 2009 meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club. Dr. Chen gave his presentation on skin cancer, a topic of great concern to residents in this area.
Dr. Chen reported in his presentation that skin cancer was the number one cancer in the United States with 1 million new cases reported annually. Skin cancers are responsible for 10,000 deaths annually. The three types of skin cancer are: 1) basal cell carcinoma, 2) squamous cell carscnoma, and 3) melanoma, the most deadly of the three.
