Concept Drawing of new 4600seat grandstand.
The old grandstand was built in the 1940's and covered in 1978.
Demolition began on October 1, 2013. Roof and rear wall being removed.
Nothing left but the old seating. Although it looked good from a distance, the boards and supporting structure were showing their age.
Wooden seating being removed. Old electrical equipment room demolished. John Pillow had salvaged switch gear and copper wire. Notice the rust on the seating supports. Nothing left but open space. Plumbing installed for new restroom facility. Foundation and slab for new restroom.
Restroom walls going up. Walls complete, roof trusses going on.
Ready for doors, fixtures, and final trim.
Completed restroom building in background. Concrete footers poured for grandstand.
Steel erection begins in February, 2014. Erection continues. The impressive size of the structure becomes apparent. Rear view of the construction. Steel still going up. Adding cross members and sway bracing.
Uprights and risers installed. Beginning to install floor boards. Arial view taken on Saturday morning, 3/9/2014. President Todd checks out the view. Structure from underneath.
Open space where the information booth used to be. Floor boards nearly complete.
