Thank you for visiting the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club’s website. Our club was chartered in 1947, and is currently enjoying a period of unprecedented growth. For the first time in recent memory, our membership has grown to approach and at times exceed 100 members. We are a dynamic club that is active in Rotary. As you browse our website, I hope you will agree that we are doing many worthwhile activities in each of Rotary’s Four Avenues of Service.
Our main focus is the maintenance and development of Lawrenceburg’s Rotary Park. We have recently completed a ten acre land acquisition that will ensure our ability to expand the park in coming years; and have utilized matching grant money to plant trees and develop green space on the existing property. In cooperation with the City of Lawrenceburg, we will soon complete a major renovation of public restroom facilities in our gymnasium building. In addition to our park activities, we participate in numerous community service projects and are active internationally through hands on assistance to remote villages in Honduras.
These efforts are made possible by our club’s sponsorship of the Middle Tennessee District Fair. The fair is recognized as one of the premier events in our community, and has received numerous awards including the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Class AA Champion and Tennessee Association of Fair’s State Champion of Champions Awards. The financial success of this event makes possible the continuous improvement of Rotary Park, and our many service projects. It is also a great opportunity for Rotarians to enjoy fellowship while practicing “Service Above Self”.
I am honored to be serving as Lawrenceburg Rotary’s 2009-10 Club President. My goals are to build upon the succeses we have enjoyed in the past in order to ensure the positive growth of our club in the future. I will encourage our club to maintain its support for the Honduras Project and Rotary International’s Polio Eradication campaign. I will lead an effort to establish a multi-year renovation of our Arena and Grandstand facilities; and to begin planning for the long term use of our newly acquired land on Mahr Avenue. I will promote the continuation of our Spring Golf Scramble for Humanity. Most importantly, I will encourage all Rotarians to actively participate in club operations and to maintain our club’s tradition of friendship and comraderie through service.
I hope you will get to know us by browsing this website; or better yet, by visiting us here in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The welcome mat is always out!
Yours In Rotary;
Jack Grinnell
President, RC of Lawrenceburg
