St. Thomas Chest Pain Network Speaks at Rotary Club
by Bob Augustin Jr.

Ranee Curtis, RN, BSN, CEN, EMT with St. Thomas Chest Pain Network, was the featured speaker at the Feb. 5, 2010 meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club. The St. Thomas Chest Pain Network is a group of 15 hospitals in the Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky area committed to improving the quality of care to chest pain patients. Crockett Hospital is a member of the St. Thomas Chest Pain Center Network.
The goal of the Chest Pain Network is to improve community emergency access and improve diagnosis, treatment and intervention related to Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) at the local hospital and develop a dedicated observation setting that allows physicians to monitor patients when it is not clear if they are having a coronary event. In addition, the network seeks to educate the community on the warning signs and risk factors of heart disease and on the importance of seeking early intervention when experiencing symptoms of heart attack.
